Editorial Policy

How we research, test, and maintain our security guides.

At Zenonym, every guide is based on hands-on testing. We do not publish configuration guides without verifying them first.

Our Testing Process

All guides are validated through three stages before publication:

  1. Implementation: Every configuration is applied in test environments running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, GrapheneOS, or Debian 12.
  2. Functional Verification: We confirm the setup achieves its stated goal — Tor circuits build, DNS leaks are blocked, firewalls pass port scans, and encrypted volumes unlock correctly.
  3. Persistence Testing: After a reboot, we verify that all settings persist and no fallback routes are exposed.

Content Standards

We follow these principles for every article:

  • Original Experience: Guides are based on hands-on testing, not theoretical configuration. We include terminal output and observed behavior.
  • Transparency: We disclose any limitations, known risks, and trade-offs. If a tool has a privacy quirk, we say so.
  • Accuracy: We cite authoritative sources (RFCs, NIST guidelines, project documentation, CVE databases). Claims are verifiable.

Update Policy

Software changes. Security recommendations evolve. Every article displays its Last Updated date, and we review guides quarterly for outdated commands, deprecated tools, or new vulnerabilities. Major OS releases trigger a re-test within 30 days.

How We Choose Topics

Article ideas come from:

  • Our own testing — when we run into a non-obvious configuration issue, we write a guide.
  • Reader feedback and technical questions via our Contact page.
  • Emerging threats and new privacy tools in the open-source community.

Corrections & Feedback

If you find an error, outdated command, or a broken link, please contact us at mail@zenonym.com or use our Contact form. We maintain a public Corrections Log and will update the article within 48 hours of verification.

Author Attribution

Articles are authored by Zenonym Research, an independent technical publication. See our About page for our testing methodology.
